As the offseason came to an end, the NFL and Nike announced the drop of the 2025 Rivalries uniforms. This announcement means certain teams will be releasing special, alternate  uniforms and helmets that focus on their history, culture, and setting of the team and city. This release is a part of a multi-year program, with new divisions set to release their own styles in years to come.

This promotion is meant to highlight the intense rivalries within the divisions. To start out, the participating divisions are the AFC East and NFC West. These jerseys will debut during a singular home game against a division rival this season. The jerseys will bring a flair to each rivalry, showcasing the history. The NFL aims to boost their creativity and harp on what a rivalry is, hoping to gain a luxurious profit from the jerseys. The specific details of the uniforms and helmets will draw on the unique features of the team and their home city. Looking to the future, the new jerseys will be in their respective teams’ uniform rotation for the next three seasons. The rest of the divisions will debut their versions in the next three seasons as well.

Nike and the NFL also hope to connect the athletes with their fans, teams, and local communities. They want to be authentic to the fans and communities, giving them a fresh sense of pride. Airhart Ryan, Director of NFL Apparel Product Design at Nike, said “Each uniform was designed in collaboration with the club it represents to authentically reflect what makes their team, fans, and communities wholly unique.” Nike and the NFL are aiming to boost what being a rival means. Taryn Hutt, VP of Club Marketing at the NFL, said “The unveiling of the first eight Rivalries club informs and fan gear marks a significant moment for the NFL, Nike, and Fanatics, as creativity and innovation merge together to deliver a new take on what it means to be a rival.”

The fans can also show their support by buying the jerseys, along with sideline apparel and fan gear like t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and headwear. They will be on the market beginning September 10th on the Nike website, NFL shop, Fanatics, individual team stores, and retail locations. To expand it internationally, it’ll also be sold across Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia, specifically on NFL shop sites and select retailers. There will also be limited edition items dropping close to each rivalry game. To create an even better fan experience, EA will also be integrating the jerseys into their videogame.

With the new rivalries promotion on the horizon, it’s shaping up to be an exciting season for the NFL. With much focus on the actual game, these jerseys will give the fans and players a chance to connect with each other, highlighting the special community within the NFL. The NFL and Nike will also be given the opportunity to bring home a plethora of money. This promotion benefits everyone involved, bringing the NFL and its sponsors a lot of money while also boosting excitement and connection amongst players and their local fans.
